FROM THE VAULT: Works on Paper by Dali and Picasso
Jan 15, 2016 — May 14, 2016
Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso are among the most renowned 20th century European-born artists in the museum's collection. This exhibition of the artists' print portfolios--Dali's La Conquête du Cosmos II and Picasso's Femmes et Faunes--highlights their mutual interest in Surrealism, an art movement characterized by the abandonment of rationality and logic in favor of imagination and the subconscious.
These portfolios were donated to the Museum by Bernard L. Bryant and Associates, and Mr. and Mrs. James D. Parkerson.
Special thanks to Deborah and Dennis Sullivan and Halliburton for their support of the exhibition.
